This unique product keeps the urine on top, making sample collection easy. The all natural hydrophobic coating is non-invasive, nontoxic, and provides a method which maintains high levels of morality and wellness for animals. LabSand is laboratory validated and veterinarian approved, and has gone through extensive research and validation testing, guaranteeing it will not change any parameters of the obtained urine sample.
Noninvasive, stress-free, and easy to use, LabSand is the answer to urine analysis in laboratory and research facilities. To use LabSand, simply empty the contents of one of the 300g bags in your LabSand kit into a clean cage or onto any desired surface. Allow the animal to urinate freely. After urination, collect the sample using a pipette and vial, or simply dip a testing strip directly on the suspended droplet which remains on the surface.
What happens if the animal steps on a droplet in the sand?
Depending on the size of the urine sample, it should not be absorbed into the feet or hair of the animal being tested.
What happens if a droplet moves to the side of the sand?
If the surface is clean, a sample can still be collected.
How long will the urine stay on top of the LabSand sand?
The urine will stay on top until it all evaporates. We recommend collecting the urine sample as quickly as possible since some test results will differ if not collected immediately. For example, over time the water evaporating from the urine will cause PH levels to change.
Can LabSand sand be reused?
LabSand is a single-use easily disposable diagnostic kit, and should be disposed of after a single urine sample has been collected. However, if you need to test glucose levels over a period of up to 48 hours, you can use a paper towel to absorb the urine from the surface of the sand, so that the same species can urinate again on the sand.
